ALGOANE, THE BIRTH OF A BRAND
One woman is behind the creation of the Laboratoires Sciences et Mer: Christine Bodeau.
As a doctor of science in biochemistry and a biotechnology engineer, she quickly became aware of the unexploited riches of the sea.
As an enthusiastic, curious and perceptive Breton, she directs her research especially towards seaweeds and their biological behaviour. Once she became convinced of the extraordinary powers of these sea plants on the skin and the body, she started looking for the best active ingredients and formulated her first products.
She founded the Laboratoires Sciences et Mer in 1986 and, in the space of just a few years, the company became a major player in Marine Beauty, now providing 45 out of the 52 thalassotherapy centres in France.
Soon afterwards the Laboratoires Sciences et Mer were approached by major cosmetics brands to produce exclusive sea-based ranges of products.
Today, drawing on these 20 years of expertise, Christine Bodeau is hoping to offer all women the opportunity to share in the best of the sea and seaweed, through treatments which are effective, natural and fun to use.
